Coming as a rather surprise, Toshiba digs out with a rare Innovative two screen Tablet. Christened as “Libretto W100″, the gadget did manage turn the necks of the tech enthusiasts generating some contrast reviews.
The latest from Toshiba comes in the form of a traditional Clamshell design, a default for the laptops and Netbooks. But the slight twist here is despite the presence of two panels, the device goes away with the mechanical device. The gadget brings in touch to both the screens with the option to customize the second screen as a touch sensitive QWERTY keyboard layout, giving its users the same experience as that of a Laptop or a conventional Netbook. The most important feature of the device though is its ability to use both the screens independently. Which means you can browse on one screen and at the same time read an E-book or watch a movie on the other without much interference, now that is multitasking in real sense. Since the complete Gadget is touch-centric, it comes in pre-installed with Windows 7 Home premium rather unsurprisingly.
Coming on to its core features; the device encases a 1.2GHz Intel U5400 processor, and is clubbed with 2GB DDR3 RAM, and a 62GB Hard drive. As far as connectivity is concerned, the device supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1, which are default these days. The Device does show a micro SD card slot but comes in with just one-USB 2.0 ports which just might not go well with the users. The gadget is also bundled with an accelerometer, enabling both Portrait and Landscape view.
The device for now is being sold by Toshiba as a concept design and the price is yet to be revealed. To what extent the device the manages to create its segment, might only be cleared when the users actually start exploiting it, and how well it does in peeping through Apple’s iPad, which shall be its biggest competitors, depends on how the users finally receive it.

The Swedish carmaker Volvo who are famous for their safety technology, so said ‘boring’ cars which seem to be becoming overtly interesting these days, and recently Chinese Ownership, have joined the long bandwagon that the recallers are recently. They have recalled the C30 hatch, S40 saloon and the V50 estate for a minor glitch with the gearbox.
This recall goes for the 2010-11 model year C30 car and the 2010 S40 and V50 cars and is only for those vehicles with a 6 speed manual transmission. The fault with the gearbox is a loose gearshift lever stud assembly which may not have been properly tightened at the factory. This might cause the stud or the gearshift lever cable to come off thus causing inability to shift gears or even engage or disengage them.
Only 536 vehicles have been recalled as the sales of manual versions of these cars haven’t been like those of hot dogs. Thankfully, no accidents or cases have been reported. Volvo also recently faced a similar embarrassment when their emergency braking systems show went wrong when the S60 sedan being demonstrated hit the obstacle in front of it when it was supposed to actually slow down and stop. Volvo assured the problem would be a one-off. However it’s critical that manufacturers check their quality assurance strategies in these ‘troubled’ times!

At an earlier press conference, Ferrari president Luca Di Montezemolo was known to have confirmed some really interesting news. There seems to be some spectacular surprise for all tifosi at the upcoming Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance to be held in California this August.
The much loved 599 is going to lose its top as a convertible version is being worked on according to Luca and that the car might be showcased at Pebble Beach. No further reports have been confirmed as to the car being a soft-top, hard top or shall be a mix match like the 575 Super America. Rumours suggest a concept similar to the electric roof on the 575 Super America. No reports are known about any changes to the mechanicals though. The car might feature a romantic name, according to Luca.
Luca also confirmed that Ferrari will be going in for hybridization to keep the V12 alive for future fezzas. To make the cars more fuel efficient and ‘green’, they might feature downsized V12 engines and the much tested and tamed Hy-KERS system. Other models of Ferrari might also feature smaller turbo charged engines as earlier reported. Luca also suggested an extensive model line up coming our way once they figure out production variants of this new drive train in a couple of years. A lot is there to expect from the famed factory at Maranello in the times to come then!

Nintendo makes a rather surprising bash at the ongoing E3 expo when it revealed its all new 3DS handheld gaming device. The Device for now is still in development stage. Nintendo earlier had announced its intentions to develop 3D gaming devices, and this pre-revelation further confirms their future approach. Although the timing came has a rather surprise as no buzz was heard in the regard.
The 3DS device embeds a glassless LCD panel, which adds a unique distinction to the product enabling the users to toggle the 3D feature in or off. The device opens like a notebook, and the screen on the bottom panel is the only touchscreen. The Device embeds in 3 cameras, one in inside capable of video chat, and two on the outside panel capable of 3D capturing. All the cameras though are VGA. The device also sports an analog stick a first for Nintendo portable but a must for 3D Gaming. The Device is capable of playing 3D movies and videos; well we got more reasons to watch the Avatar once again.
The device also comes in with accelerators and Gyro sensors, which are certainly built for future gaming experiences. Nintendo has also hinted that the previous gaming titles in the series will still be compatible on the gadget.
Nintendo for now as managed to gain its own limelight at the time when the gaming world was reviewing the new X-box, but how far this device can go, and will it manage to create its own segment in handheld 3D gaming devices, certainly depends on how the Gaming- freaks receive when the product will finally be retailed, which is not going to be very soon. With Microsoft and Nintendo making their bang, we are expecting something from Sony’s gaming section, or will we have any surprise new entrant?

Mac mini considered to be the smallest offering from Apple in the Mac section has just got even smaller. Apple recently has launched the new slimmer mac, which is just 1.4 inch thick, a good 0.6inch gain from the previous version with more enhancements and hardware upgrades.
The New Mac mini offers 2.4 GHz Intel core 2 Duo processors which sports a 3MB shared L2 cache. The device comes in with 320GB SATA HDD at 5400RPM and 2GB DDR3 Ram, with an option to upgrade it up to 8GB. Apple has made a good upgrade onto the new NVidia GeForce 320M integrated graphics chip, which inhibits 48 stream processors replacing the earlier 9400chip. The New upgraded device is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled as expected. Just to add to its capabilities the device comes in with HDMI port and an SD card slot, a first for the Mac mini-series, these new added features are commendable considering the reduction in size and weight. The device also comes bundled with 4 USB 2.0 ports and a slot load 8x SuperDrive.
All these upgrades are definite to give an edge to the cheapest Mac, perhaps a core i-series processor might have taken it to an all new platform. But we are definitely not complaining on the device that measures just 7.7inches square. Apple launched the product the same day has the International bookings for iPhone 4 opened. The new launch from Apple with HDMI capable is seen has Apple’s reply Google TV. As the current Hardware enables live HD streaming by just plugging a USB video card. Many are terming this move as a step forward in the concept of Apple TV, which is buzzing quite a lot these days.
With all these advanced features a price tag of US $699 is certainly a best buy, considering the fact that you will have a half bitten Apple on your device to add to your style quotient.

The BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, which began almost two months back, has now become the largest oil spill in the world. A deep water drilling rig explosion led to this oil spill and is now on a daily basis flowing up to 40,000 barrels of crude oil into the Gulf , thereby causing severe damage to the marine and wildlife habitats and severe losses to the Gulf of Mexico fishing and tourism industry. All ongoing efforts to control this spill by BP have gone in vain.
Now, Kevin Costner, the multi talented American actor and businessman has stood up and testified that he can, with the help of the oil separation machines his company manufactures, help clean up the oil spill mess being caused by BP.
‘The Bodyguard’ star has testified before the House Energy and Environment subcommittee on a water purification system that he’s developed and how that could help separate the toxic sludge from the Gulf water. “I come before you as a discouraged U.S. citizen and an entrepreneur with a partial solution to the tragedy unfolding in the Gulf,” said Costner.
Costner had ventured into the business of oil separation machines in 1995 when he purchased Ocean Therapy Solutions, from the US government for $24 million. Till the BP oil spill happened, these machines were hardly of significance to anyone, but now he has a huge order of 32 of the centrifugal separators from BP. Costner hopes that by August end he’ll have all 32 machines working in the Gulf.
Apart from Costner, another Hollywood veteran director James Cameron has also offered help to BP and has even held private meetings with scientists , engineers and submersible experts, in order to come up with ways in helping BP beat this disaster.
Well Costner, you now have the entire world’s attention drawn towards you and we hope your machine turns out be a big hit as some of your flicks have been.

After a lot of hic-cups, adobe released a new update to its Flash player or rather the plugin as expected. Perhaps adobe was rather forced to release this new update, to gain the confidence back from its users, after they questioned the security of the product.
Adobe flash player version 10, which adobe released with much fanfare, went into turbulence very soon, with various developers and IT professionals reporting serious security flaws to an extent whereby the attacker can take control of the affected system. Adobe which earlier backed its product later accepted the flaws. Hence, a new update was always on the cards, and was the only way to gain the trust back.
Adobe’s official statement claims the new adobe flash 10.1 to be much better on performance, stability and privacy. Users who installed the beta version of adobe 10.1 report the new version to be much better than the previous versions and does provide better compatibility across various browsers and expect it to be better on security front.
The developers, who expected better installation procedure for the flash player, will have to remain disappointed, as no changes have been made in this regard, and the process continues to be rather complicated. And if you are a Windows user you will have to install this plugin twice, once for IE and once for other browsers. To what extent the new flash player is safe, and how much it impresses the users, only time will let us know. But for now, Apple which openly questions the security of flash doesn’t seem much interested in this new update. But for our readers we would advise you to update your version, since it’s certainly better than its predecessors and do let us know your Interface with this new tweak.

In an event which might cost BP, a few billion dollars, President Obama is expected to address the nation on the Gulf oil disaster on Tuesday. Obama is expected to make announcements on the future approach of the government on the issue.
White house adviser David Axelrod commented, “He (President Obama) wants to lay out the steps we’re going to take from here to get through this crisis”. President Obama has already stated the Gulf Oil leak, as a National Disaster and has even announced a six-month moratorium on the further off-shore oil drills. It has been more than 48days since the disaster struck, and has been continuously leaking 20,000 to 40,000 barrels of oil per day. The number though still continues to be debated. All the attempts to block the leak have been proven unsuccessful, and it might take few more months, until the leaking oil is brought under control.
Obama is expected to visit the Gulf region again for the fourth time on 14th June to assess the damages personally and as well as to speak to the BP Executives, just a day before he addresses the nation. BP officials have also called for an emergency meeting of its top executives to discuss on various issues including compensation and others. The President is expected to make announcements, which will make BP liable for all the damages that the disaster has caused. Mr. Obama is also expected to compel the company to create a separate fund which might run into Billions of dollars, to compensate for the businesses and individuals affected by the disaster. The fund might also reserve finances to compensate for the environment damages caused by the Gulf-spill. He is also expected to follow up with stringent regulations for all future off-shore drills, which might be seen negatively by the oil industry as a whole.
