Raise the doubts over the efficiency of the FIFA world Cup 2010 organizers, Live Cameras have reported large patches of Empty seats in the ongoing FIFA world cup in South Africa. The Empty seats have surprised even the organizers, as all the seats for the event have been officially sold-out.
Even the Inaugural match, that saw the hosts holding on for a historic draw with Mexico had 4000 empty seats against its capacity of 88000, but has the matches progress the Empty patches just seem to grow larger. Close to 11,000 seats were reportedly empty for the tie between South Korea and Greece, which took place at Port Elizabeth. Almost a quarter of the Stadium was empty for the match between Algeria and Slovenia.
FIFA and South Africa meanwhile seem to be blaming each other for the debacle. ”As South Africa, we got the stadiums, and all FIFA had to do was sell the tickets,” Mr. Vegter, a South African sports columnist commented. FIFA planned a 4-tier pricing to ensure that the tickets were affordable to ordinary South African and as well for the fans from rest of Africa. But analysts blame FIFA’s pricing policy and said that even the minimum priced tickets are beyond the reach of an ordinary fan from Black Community, where the actual Fan base in Africa resides.
South African officials blamed that the low numbers are due to foreign tourists who failed to arrive. They earlier expected a number close 750,000, but only 250,000 foreign tourists are reported of arriving in South Africa. Raising concerns among the officials of South Africa, has the govt. had spent a huge amount in organizing an event of this scale and was expecting some returns from gains in the Tourism. Many of the hotels in various cities are still vacant, the officials commented.
As the officials continue to blame on each other for the actual reasons, we just hope the momentum actually picks-up, and there are more football fans dancing to the tunes of “waka-waka” at the stadium.

Germany might have crushed Australia with a fantabulous score of 4-0, however to defeat England they are taking the help of words prior to blows scheduled on 26th June. Germany football legend Franz Beckenbauer criticized the England team and said, “Even Fabio can hardly do any good to this team.”
Beckenbauer, who led Germany to World Cup glory in 1974, was highly critical of the England team’s performance: “It looked to me as if the English have gone backwards into the bad old times of kick and rush. What I saw from their 1-1 draw against the USA had very little to do with football. And I am not sure if the England coach Fabio Capello can change much.”
Well, was Beckenbauer truthful or was he playing some dirty politics is the question. Beck and Fabio are good friends; nevertheless, in times such as world cup for the creation of pressure on the opponent using these dirty tricks is not unheard of.

The yellow horn “Vuvuzela” of South Africa constantly humming at the background of every match played in FIFA WC 2010 has become synonymous with the event. The horn is played by football fans and audience at football matches in South Africa. Vuvuzelas have created controversies around them. Sound of the horn has been reported to be distracting for players, hinders communication among the players and also drowns the ambiance sound and thereby has been demanded to be banned in the ground. However, FIFA President has turned down the request as it is a part of music tradition of the South African nation. The President also argues that similar trumpets are blown in Mexican grounds as well during matches.
If the humming sound at the background of the television background seems to be irritating you or if you not able to hear the commentary, acoustic engineers have come to your rescue. Sound filters are available in the market to eliminate Vuvu’s noise in the broadcast. Some of the channels are contemplating on broadcasting Vuvu filtered signals. Vuvuzela is an integral part of South African football tradition and the fans around the world are embracing the Vuvuzela flavored football of South Africa (some might use Vuvu filters though).

Disappointing his fans, the legendary Sachin Tendulkar gave Asia Cup a miss as he wanted to let his family enjoy his company. A recent tweet from SRT “no news frm me for a while as i m away on holiday with my kids.wont get to holiday with them for a year after this.” However, holidaying SRT would give his fans a chance to have a glance of him at the Wimbeldon’s green lawns on 26th June 2010.
SRT has been invited to the Royal Box by the The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club to witness the games on the first Saturday of the Wimbledon fortnight aka Sporting Saturday. The invitations are sent to guests from the field of sports for the Sporting Saturday.
Commonly seen in his ten numbered jersey SRT on this occasion would be donning suit/jacket and tie to witness the games at the wimbeldon. The invitation from the “Land of Three Lions” concurs with the respect offered to SRT by Gordan Brown (former Prime Minister of England) during his visit to India when Brown aired his opinion about recommending Sachin Tendulkar for knighthood. Fans are elated at this piece of information and believe days are close when the world would be soon looking at the first Indian sports knight.

With Argentina and England among the serious contenders for FIFA WC 2010, the off-field battle led by their managers Diego Maradonna & Fabio Capello would also play a significant role in their journey in the tournament. Maradona who had led Argentina in winning the championship in the year 1986 would be on the healm to win the championship for Argentina not using his legs but his tricks. Maradona heavily criticized by his critics for trying out more than 100 players within 18 months would be commanding his team to silence his critics. If Argentina succeeds in conquering the championship and Messi performs, the phenomenon “Messidona” would be etched in the history of football.
Capello has evinced great deftness in commanding his players by leading the team in winning nine out of ten qualifying games. Disciplinarian in approach, he would be counting on his star players like Rooney to repeat the winning history of 1966 for the “Three Lions”. Rooney has displayed excellent form in the field recently and would be among the ones who would implement the mind works of Fabio.
Both Fabio and Maradona have captured the attention of the football fans and it remains to be seen who would be elevated to the levels of demigods in their country.

The once upon a time ace golfer, who is trying to return his game and life to normalcy, it seems won’t be able to do so easily. Just as negative media about him begins to die, some or the other startling revelations about the Golfer come up.
Woods life went topsy turvy last November when infidelity reports of him surfaced. At least 13 women claimed to have had an affair with him, including a porn star. With these claims Woods not only lost the chance of leading a happily married life, but also lost out on several endorsement deals and contracts of companies like Accenture and Gillette.
These reports also affected Woods game in return and he’s currently not in good form. Well all that goes up must come down, but such a terrible fall is not what this 34 year old had ever dreamt of and he is nowhere close to the end of his fall either it seems. Now a T.V documentary to be aired on Channel 4 this Thursday has claimed that Woods has a love child and that they have DNA proof of the same.
Rumours of his love child/ children were ripe last year too, as one of his mistresses had claimed that Woods had unprotected sex with his women, hence illegitimate children could have been the results. However no proof of the same was found.
Now in this Jacques Peretti directed TV documentary, a journalist Neal Boulton, who supposedly helped Woods hiding his affairs has claimed that he knows someone who has evidence of the child’s existence, including DNA. “There is a lot more to come out. Tiger will eventually admit to fathering a child,” he confessed. There are reports doing rounds that one of Woods girls- Theresa Rogers gave birth to his baby, a girl in 2003 and kept quiet about the same on being paid £ 2 million.
Woods it seems has lost a lot of money not only account of cancelled contracts and deals, but also in trying to hush up his affairs, but all in vain.

Over night Robert Green has become more searched name on the net than Robert Pattinson, and he must be dejected to know it is for the wrong reasons. He failed to grasp the shot of Clint Dempsey resulting in a goal nullifier against the US side. The miss can be termed as abysmal performance by the goal keeper, and under such circumstances to expect him dropped is but obvious.
Nevertheless, the point under such circumstances worth noting is the unbreakable mental stability of Robert Green. He faced the adversity with a brave front and did not break up. Even the England side was full of praises for the positive reaction of the infelicitous West Ham keeper.
However expecting David James to replace him would take you in the wrong direction. If Fabio Capello did not see David good enough to play the first match of the tournament, it is hard he will go for him over Joe Hart, especially when Fabio rates him wonderfully.
Capello has come under scanner regarding the team selection and performance of the key players. Under such difficult circumstances a tough path lies in front of the England team, and resorting to panic in such times can only prove detrimental to the team.
The critics of Fabio for the moment have a card against the man. Only his next match against Algeria shall declare results.

The one man who deserves credit for pumping money into the game of football it is Blatter. The president of FIFA since 1998 is more than just happy with the happenings of his professional life. First time in the history of football total earnings have crossed the $ 1 billion mark; more than a factor of 10 since Blatter assumed office.
In a meeting of the delegates at the week’s Fifa congress, attended by 208 members of different countries, the president announced a bonus of $250000 along with $2.5 million to each confederation.
In South Africa World Cup FIFA has pumped in $1.2 billion, making it the richest sporting event in history. Blatter instead of making it the culmination of his career wants to make it a steeping stone to the next presidential term. Blatter, 74, said he wanted to go on. The week’s congress looked more akin to a political rally as compared to a meeting of top football executives.
Nevertheless of his political ambitions, he is the man to be credited who made the biggest event in football history and just did not stop there; he made it possible in the least expected continent of all- South Africa! South Africa with its brow-raising crime rate and grotesque reputation of getting things done is hoisting the world cup. Friday show was something which we can call spectacular.
Amidst manifestation of such mind boggling fascination expecting something less of the man behind it will be a shame. Blatter, is the right candidate for a continuation however will his political competitors and his old age turn him frail? Probably, time will answer this question.

The shorter format of Cricket Twenty Twenty (aka T20) seems to be living true to its promise of enhancing the popularity & visibility of cricket across the globe. Cricket in its shorter format is all set to create history in the annals of more than 150 years of international cricket by being welcomed by the Americas. US cricket council has made preparations to play the role of host for two T20 matches between New Zealand and Sri Lanka at Lauderhill’s Central Broward Regional Park, Florida headquarters of Cricket Council of USA.
Surely, the two matches would be gifts to 15 Million Cricket followers in USA. T20 has shown greater potential to spread the game across the globe than its older rivals One Day International and Test Matches as it seems to coincide with shorter attention spans of audience in Western Countries. Another indicator of T20’s potential of spreading cricket is the inclusion of Afghanistan team in the T20 World Cup 2010.
Has T20 started a cricket revolution in the land of USA and in many other cricket loving nations? Can T20 move cricket from the second spot to the first spot of worldwide popularity as most watched spectator sport? Well, the destination seems to be very distant and T20 needs to walk miles before it goes to sleep. Miles to go before I sleep…. Miles to go before I sleep….

Spain’s Rafael has shown it to the world that he is the lord of clay. He recently won the French Open. He crushed Robin Soderling with 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 to ascend the world’s top position among rankings. Roger Fedrer dropped to world number two.
The Spaniard was vanquished in 2009 by Robin in the fourth round of French Open, and today by defeating him Nadal has shown a game class apart. He became the second man in tennis history to win five French Open crowns. Sweden’s Bjorn Borg holds the record of winning six French Open tournaments.
Rafael was highly emotionally charged after he defeated Robin. For him it was an amazing and emotional win.
