Terror bid foiled on Detroit flight!

In what could have been a major terrorist attack just days ahead of the New Year, a Nigerian suspect who later confessed to his links with the dreaded Al -Qaeda, was today nabbed on board an U.S commercial flight upon its landing in Detroit.

It was learned through further interrogation of the suspect that he was attempting to blow up the flight mid - air and the United States officials have already labeled this as an attempted terrorist attack. The commercial Delta flight which fortuitously escaped this terror bid, took off from Egypt with 273 passengers and 11 crew members on board.

As per eyewitness accounts it was barely twenty minutes before the flight was supposed to land at the Detroit airport that some passengers heard strange popping noises like some crackers going off. It was further learned from the passengers and airline officials that just as the suspect was attempting to blow up the flight mid - air one of them lunged at him and subdued him in the nick of time.

The man had ‘some kind of incendiary device he tried to ignite’ in a bag strapped to his body, U.S. officials told NBC News. Other officials told NBC station WDIV-TV of Detroit that the device was a mixture of powder and liquid, which failed to ignite when the passenger tried to detonate it during the plane’s descent into Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport.

A close call indeed for the 273 passengers!

Neda No More For Real, But Still Lives On In Millions Of Hearts!

Neda was beautiful young woman who lived in Iran. She loved music and played keyboard. She was caring and emotional girl in her childhood. When she grew up, she had a strong opinion for Iranian politics. She and her mother often had political debates and discussions. The smart young woman diead a few months back, after she had been shot in the heart during a pro-democracy demonstration in Iran. Her death video was even caught on tape.

Neda’s mother often joined her in the street protests that erupted after Iran’s disputed June 12 presidential election. But that fateful day she couldn’t go with her and Neda had to leave without her. Nedas mother said “I told her to be very careful, and she said she would.”

Neda was accompanied by her music teacher that day. She would often call her mom and give her updates regarding the protest. The last time Neda’s mom had a talk with her was when she called Neda and Neda said she was on her way back home. Neda was a few steps away from her car when she heard a firing sound. And the next moment, she was lying on the floor with a bullet on her chest.

Neda’s mom came to know about the video of her daughter being shot, a few days later. “But when I returned home, I did see the video,” she said. “It was enormously painful. So painful that I’ve never been able to watch it again all the way through to the end.

“It was the moment of seeing her give her life, the life leaving her body. That was very painful. The look in her eyes at that moment. I wake up with that look in her eyes every morning; I go to bed with the image of that look in her eyes every evening.”

“I want to say that the moment that bothers me the most — that bothers me terribly — is the moment Neda got shot. That’s because Neda was an extremely brave person. Ever since she was a child, she was brave and fearless. So that moment when she got shot, I saw it in the video, she couldn’t believe it — that she had taken a bullet. So much so that she takes a look at her body. And when she sees she’s been shot, she takes a few steps backwards and then falls. The only words she managed to utter was: ‘Teacher, I’m burning.’ And people said she passed within 44 seconds.”

Neda’s mom visits her grave every Friday. “People go and write on her grave in red ink the word ‘martyr,’” she said, “and then the authorities go and wipe it off.” “I saw Neda as a martyr from the start. Neda was a martyr for her homeland.”

Since the incident, Neda has become a household name. Her name has crossed all borders and reached people far away.

“As a message to everyone, I really want to thank the whole world, “said Neda’s mom. “And I don’t really know how to thank them, so I ask of you: Please find the right words for me.
“I can’t tell you how much it has warmed our hearts, how much it’s helped us.”

Hurricane Ida Ravages Nicaragua coast!

Today morning, Nicaragua coast was struck be a tremendous blow by Mother Nature as hurricane Ida blasted into Nicaragua’s Atlantic coast. More than 200 people had to abandon their homes and the power was knocked out at many portions. Heavy down pours and strong winds have kept officials from evacuating about 80 people on Cayos Perla. Authorities are trying to get them out with the help of speed boats. The storm continued to aim north toward Honduras, Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula and possibly the Gulf of Mexico.

Around 10 am today, the storm was 75 miles north of Bluefield’s, Nicaragua, crawling northwest at 6 mph with sustained winds of 75 mph. As the stone is over land, it’s been predicted that it will slow down before it reaches the open sea.

A long range forecast predicts that it might regain tropical storm strength, move into the Gulf by Tuesday morning and generally aim toward Louisiana. But that’s just an assumption. “There is no electricity on the island and telephone is out and there is little water,” said Perez, Nicaragua’s National Civil Defense director.

Central America is currently facing howling winds, torrential rains and battering waves but experts predict it to be a compact storm.
