This seems to be a dream period for Spain after World Cup and Wimbledon victories! María Elena has married Juan Antonio Gonzalo in real life. The 36 year old Oscar Winner Penelope Cruz was sporting a John Galliano dress, as she married co-star Javier Bardem in a cremony which only family members attended. The Spanish couple appeared in the Vicky Cristina Barcelona in 2008, in which Penelope Cruz came up with a Oscar winning performance.
Both are Oscar stars with Bardem, 41, winning his Oscar for best supporting actor for his role in the 2007 movie, "No Country For Old Men." Indeed Penelope’s first feature film, Jamon Jamon had also featured Javier Bardem. The movie bagged a Silver Lion award at the 1992 Venice Film Festival.
Cruz was previously in a three year old relationship with Tom Cruise which ended in January 2004. Her relationship with Matthew McConaughey lasted rom February 2005 to June 2006. Cruz began courtship with Bardem in 2007. The couple has always stayed away from the limelight.
Whether Bardem agrees to the views expressed by Cruz regarding having children and adoption remains to be seen. "Of course I want to have kids," Cruz had said in 2007. "I want to have my own kids, but also adopt. For a while I’ve had the feeling that my life won’t be complete if I don’t adopt", Cruz had said.
