Every giant media network makes it a point in their itinerary to mention something about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at least once every week. We are not far behind them either! The famous duo has been hounded to the ends of earth by the incorrigible paparazzi, whether for their movie promotions or their selfless charity deeds. They are regarded as the most powerful couple in Hollywood by many prominent magazines and newspaper daily’s. But minus the glam quotient, are their movies as bankable as they are made out to be?
Sample this, Angelina Jolie has had some success in the past as a star, but her last over the mark was “Wanted” in 2008 that grabbed $134 million. Before that, it was her pairing with fellow star (and now-husband) Brad Pitt in “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” in 2005 which rocketed $186 million then – belying the potential of 2000 and 2001 when Jolie opened Gone in 60 Seconds and Lara Croft to the tune of $101 million and $131 million back to back. Brad Pitt was last headlining in “Benjamin Button”, which didn’t make its production budget back with its domestic take. He was, however, a major figure for “Inglourious Basterds” (although the draw was probably more due to director Quentin Tarantino), and found success with over $120 million.
Along with George Clooney, he was part of the Ocean’s 13 crew and was paired with Jolie for the Smith haul.
If you give a glance to the above statistics, it slowly dawns upon you that their star power is just over blown up hype, in fact no singular star has a death grip over entire Hollywood and even the studios are realizing this, visible with the spate of multi starrers releasing and lined up for release. What do you have to say?

Brad and Angie are a big box office draw . You can’t mention one hollywood couple who are both as successful as them.
Pitt and Jolie are totally overrated and mediocre actors. How anyone can call the the Hollywood most powerful couple or King and Queen of Hollywood if their movies aren’t doing oh-so-well? When their movies are carried by one of them solely, they flop, barely making 2x more money than it was invested in a production.
They hype is how great looking they are and how they have box office success as well as critical success.
Angelina is an Academy Award winner and winner of many other acting awards.
Brad has been nominated twice for an Academy Award, won some film festival awards, has been making TONs of high grossing movies and was a producer on the Best Picture of the year The Departed.
Many actors would do anything just to have one 100 million movie on their resume. Never mind 4 or 5.
They do well compared to 90% of working actors in Hollywood. They don’t need another hit. They have proven themselves. The up and comers are the ones who need to prove themselves.
Brad and Angeloonie are fake as a 3 dollar bill….LMAO
Well considering they decide to act in drama oscar type films which don’t generally make a lot of money, that says something….
I mean.. obviously if brad + angelina acted in Transformers, Harry Potter, Pirates, etc. they’d be making billions a movie…..
case in point: Megan Fox
Transformers have made billions in the box office worldwide but when she doesn’t star in those types of franchises…. she’s bombed Jonah Hex and Jennifer’s body.
also look at keira knightley. She hasn’t had a box office hit ever since she quit Pirates of the Caribbean.
Obviously, they are bankable. I don’t think paparazzi will hound Brangelina to the ends of the earth if they didn’t think so.
If their star power is “hype” good for them in getting studios if pony up money and making them millionaires…unlike “writer” of this bs story.
