With its trade mark hi-speed action and mind-blowing thrill sequences ,with robbery as a motive , the first two movies in the ‘Dhoom Series’, had the audiences enthralled and box office cash registers ringing. Now work on the third movie in this series has begun and the movie, currently titled ‘Dhoom 3’, is expected to hit the screens in October 2012.
The first in the trilogy, ‘Doom’ was released in 2004 and for the first time exposed the Indian audiences to hi-speed motorbike stunts. The movie turned out to be one of the highest grossing films of 2004. Jhon Abraham, Abhishek Bachchan , Aditya Chopra and Esha Deol were the main stars of the film.
Its sequel, ‘Dhoom 2: Back in Action’ was released in India in 2006. In this sequel we had Hrithik Roshan and Aiswarya Rai sizzling up the screen as the high profile thieves, with Abhishek and Uday once again playing buddy cops, chasing the thieves. The action scenes this time were of international standards and were shot on roller blades and sand boards. In fact the action sequences of this sequel were also nominated for the prestigious Taurus Stunt Awards.
Though these movies were huge commercial successes, yet they were at many times criticised as being a bad influence on the Indian Youth. The movies were held responsible for the increase in number of incidents of street racing; bike-borne theft & stunting on public roads. In another case robbers who arrested for conducting a bank robbery in Kerala later admitted to have been inspired by this movie.
Abhishek Bachchan , who will be starring in Dhoom 3 again, has now announced that the script writing work for the third Dhoom has begun, When asked why the sequel was coming up after a such a long gap, he said “after the success of ‘Dhoom’ and ‘Dhoom 2′, we want the next one to do better". Abhishek and Uday Chopra will be buddy cops in Dhoom 3 again; the protagonist for the thief is yet to be announced. Sanjay Gadhvi, the director for part 1 and 2, will be once again directing Dhoom 3.
Well we hope time too zip zap zooms to 2012, when we can once again be visually treated to some breathtaking, hi-speed entertainment.
