Emma Watson: Topless tale of the ugly face of technology

Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint’s Harry Potter co-star Emma Watson is one of the most popular young actresses of the era. Playing the renowned character of Hermione Granger for the wizardry series has brought her loads of accolades from all over the planet.

But fame comes at its own price and that price sky-rockets when the corrupt minds are equipped with the modern-day gadgets of cameras and internets. Emma now stands in the midst of another topless scandal.

A topless pic of hers is doing the rounds on internet and has been circulated to all the students of Brown University (where she is a student herself) via e-mail. The girl (in the pic) is seen topless with a towel tied around the waist standing by a hot bath tub.

Emma has sternly declared that this is a fake pic and does not belong to her. While we cannot authenticate whether the girl in the pic is, indeed, Emma or someone mimicking her, this horrendous episode is a painful reminder of the ugly face of modern technology.

It was not long ago that Emma made a faux pas at a red carpet and got her knickers exposed. This had been instantly captured by the cameras and shown to every voyeur man on the planet. While that was a minor wardrobe malfunction, this topless episode is more than what Emma can swallow. After all, she has a right to some dignity and privacy……but the technology’s advancing feet have slain any of such so-called dignity thing.

The story is an invention of the Daily Mail. Photos are NOT circulating here at Brown. Emma is NOT shocked by anything except perhaps the Daily Mail. The Mail combined an ancient story about a fake photo with a sensationalistic headline that was sheer invention, surmising that Brown University students are “reportedly” (reported by whom exactly?) circulating photos. The Daily Mail offered no source, no proof, no evidence. It’s all nonsense.
