Ford and Flockhart who had met at the 2002 Golden Globes awards , got engaged last year and have now finally married in New Mexico, The ‘Star Wars’ star was in New Mexico for the filming of ‘Cowboys and Aliens.
The 67 year old actor had proposed and got engaged to the 45 year old Flockhart of the Ally McBeal TV series fame over Valentine’s Day weekend last year.
This is Ford’s third marriage and Flockhart’s first. Ford had earlier married Mary Marquardt who he divorced in 1979. He married scriptwriter Melissa Mathison in 1983 but the couple separated in 2004 after 18 years of their marriage. Ford paid Melissa more than £50million as part of their divorce deal and at that time this divorce deal was one of Hollywood’s most expensive divorces.
Ford who has two children from his first wife Mary and two from Melissa has also formally adopted Flockhurt’s son Liam.
Ford who was a professional carpenter before he became an actor, had received no formal training as a carpenter, he just picked up the art through self-learning and still practices it as a hobby. He has in fact built his own house in Wyoming. Apart from his character as Han Solo in Star Wars, Ford also gained popularity from playing the role of the archaeologist Indiana Jones in the Indiana Jones movie series.
Ford, who was at one time one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood, however has recently been appearing in movies that haven’t been fairing well at the box office resulting in the decline of his career. We hope that the new leading lady will now bring him some good luck in both his personal and professional life.
