Is the King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan following the footsteps of the Superstar of Bollywood Amitabh Bachachan on small screen?

Amitabh Bachchan appeared on Indian Television for the first time as a host of the game show Kaun Banega Crorepati or KBC as it’s popularly known. KBC is the Indian version of the UK game show ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’. The first two seasons of the show were anchored by the superstar and were telecast in 2000 and 2005 respectively. KBC in fact was considered as the re-launch pad for Amitabh’s fading Bollywood Career.

After his success with KBC, Amitabh went on to host another reality show on Television, Big Boss, the Indian version of the internationally acclaimed show—Big Brother. The superstar hosted the third season of this show on Colours last year.

While Bachchan hosted the first two versions of KBC, the third season was hosted by none other than the King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan himself in 2007. While Bachchan Senior didn’t really appreciate SRK as being a better host than him, critics felt Shah Rukh was much more entertaining than Big B on the show.

Now while Big B is back as a host for KBC-4, talks are on that King Khan will be hosting Big Boss this year. The TRP’s for Big Boss were really low in the last season and it was said that the program survived only due to the Bachchan factor in it. While the producers of the program are still to confirm the news of SRK as the host for the upcoming Big Boss season, we wonder what’s making the King Khan follow the footsteps of Amitabh Bachchan.

First SRK earned himself the super star title almost equivalent to Big B on big screen, and then he followed him on KBC and now if rumours are to be believed on Big Boss too, despite its falling TRP’s. Guess SRK is simply following a leader, in pursuit of becoming one or else looking at improving his skills through posing healthy competition. What’s your take on this one?
