Jennifer Aniston: A friend in need is a friend indeed

American sitcom, ‘Cougar Town’ premiered on ABC last year, but despite being a delightful show it failed to get large audiences and woo critics. The series which revolves around a divorced woman trying to re-enter the dating scene filled with younger men, stars former ‘Friends’ star Courtney Cox playing the main protagonist, Jules Cobb.

In the sitcom’s first season its viewership in USA fell from 11 million to 6 million over the 14 episode run. Fall in viewership was recorded in UK and Australia too. Now with the second season of the sitcom nearing its premier date the producers of the show as well Courtney herself are trying their best to pull viewers back.

And in order to boost ratings ,Cox has apparently managed to get her real life friend and former ‘Friends’ co-star, Jennifer Aniston to make a guest appearance in one of the early episodes of the show. Though sources claim that Jen is nearing to signing the deal, ABC refuses to know anything about the same. The show’s producer Bill Lawrence said, “I would love for it to happen but there’s nothing to talk about yet.”

Courtney and Cox had weaved a lot of magic together in the hit sitcom ‘Friends’ and their fans and ‘Cougar Town’ viewers are hoping that this time too their re-union would create the same ripples. This however would not be the first time the two friends are re-uniting on a show after Friends went off air in 2004. They earlier had re-united for an episode of Cox’s FX dramedy Dirt.

The second season of ‘Cougar Town’ is set to premiere on September 22nd this year. And if Jen does sign the deal for appearing in one of the episodes just to help boost her friends sitcom ratings , she sure will then prove to be ‘a friend in need is a friend indeed.
