Lady Gaga: Tweak your brains for scholarly thoughts – Makes it to University Course

If you thought Lady Gaga is all about outlandish dressing, freakish hairstyles, think again. The singer is much more than that and keeps on achieving new feats. The singer got herself introduced in the University of South Carolina, not as a student but as part of a course named “Lady Gaga and the Sociology of the Fame”.

The course creator Professor Mathieu Deflam will also teach it believes that the “Poker Face” hit maker is not just a singer or an entertainer, she is a social phenomenon. So she should be studied, the way she raised to fame. But the students taking up the course needs to do some real tweaking of the brain and some scholarly works regarding this Lady Gaga fame to score in this course, being a mere fan of the singer won’t be enough.

Deflam has attended 30 concerts of Gaga and thinks people who are interested in Gaga should take up the course, but hardcore Gaga fans, or more likely the “Little Monsters” would find it to critically analyze Lady Gaga and her fame, so two kind of students might just keep away from the course – fans and uninterested ones.

Prof. Deflam says that 6 million fans on Twitter and 10 million on Facebook is a social phenomenon. But a scholar can just go ahead and critique how does the fan following on a social networking site decides a singer who has been in the industry for only five years now can be touted as a phenomenon.
