Ricky Martin may be more popular internationally as pop singer, but the 38 year old Puerto Rican , is also a trained actor, who undertook acting classes in New York. The singer who began his career as a member of the Latin boy band , Menudo, broke away from the band later to pursue his career as a solo artist in the early nineties. The “Livin’ la Vida Loca,” star has sold over more than 60 million albums worldwide.
But apart from singing, this Latin Pop star has starred in several T.V series and theatre productions. In 1987, he appeared for the first time in a Broadway theatre production- he played the romantic lead, Marius Pontmercy, in the hit musical Les Miserables.
The pop star is now once again pulling out some time from his hectic singing career, and returning to Broadway this year, to star in a revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita. Ricky will play ‘Che ‘, opposite Argentinean actress Elena Roger.
