The 25 year old has three releases to her name, but whiles the first two-‘Saawariya’ and ‘Delhi-6’ failed to do well at the box office, I hate Luv Storys’ opened well but ticket sales fell soon after.
Daughter of veteran actor Anil Kapoor, Sonam has 3 other films lined up in Bollywood and if these too don’t fare too well, she may soon begin losing out on stardom in this very competitive industry. But father Anil Kapoor isn’t sitting still, he’s going all out to help his daughter establish a sound career not only in Bollywood but in Hollywood too.
Recently while Anil was in talks with Hollywood actor and director Ben Stiller of ‘Meet the Parents’ fame to set up a joint production company, he informed Stiller of his current production venture ‘Aisha’ , which also stars his daughter Sonam in it. Stiller apparently was very impressed with Sonam’s performance in the movie and immediately called Anil to tell him that he would love to cast his daughter in his upcoming production ‘30 Minutes or Less’.
While actress like Aishwaria Rai had to wait years before getting their first Hollywood break, Sonam is lucky to have got offers so early in her career for which she obviously has to credit her father too. Apart from Stiller Anil Kapoor has also been approached by Edoardo Ponti (Son of Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti) who would like to cast Sonam in his film ‘Das’ to be made in India.
So while lady luck from Hollywood is bestowing all on Sonam Kapoor, the actress is stuck with date problems because of prior commitments. Anil’s manager informed the media that giving dates to the Hollywood producers is a bit difficult for Sonam “because of her tight schedule as she’s shooting for ‘Thank You’ with Akshay Kumar and ‘Mausam’ with Shahid Kapoor and promoting her next release ‘Aisha’, but they are still trying to work it out.
Anil who has already taken Bollywood by storm with his film ‘Slumdog Millionaire’is hoping his daughter gets a good break there too. Bollywood hasn’t proved very lucky for Sonam yet but can Hollywood give her a much awaited hit?
