Toy Story was a pioneer in its usage of technology for animation purposes. But better than that was the touching story cleverly interwoven with heart-warming performances. Toy Story 2 had no trouble with a strong follow up act and held its own place in the hearts of critics. So we all had high expectations from Toy Story 3 and it did not disappoint, the latest adventure of Andy’s toys is as unique as its predecessors.
This time Andy is all grown up and off to college and the toys are left back feeling lonely, Andy’s mom accidentally throws them away with garbage and they end up in a day care centre where they have a whirlwind time with entire new toy characters. Woody and Buzz are as effervescent as they always were, brilliantly voiced by Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. They seem to enjoy all the madcap dialogues. The message of the movie comes clean through; all they want is a sense of belonging. In the supremely moving final scenes of Toy Story 3, their simple desire to be played with is the furthest thing from selfish. It mirrors a child’s own essential need to indulge his/her imagination through play. Toy Story 3 is a salute to the magic of making believe.
