Soon it is going to be the 25th Anniversary of the famous ‘Back to the Future’ film and just imagine what it would have been like to see Eric Stoltz in the role of Marty McFly. It is hard to see anyone else in that role apart from Michael J. Fox, but it was Stoltz who was originally cast in the role.
Five weeks into filming director Robert Zemeckis decides to recast for the role of McFly as Stoltz’s sensibilities for comedy was different than what he was looking for, hence Fox stepped in. Now 25years down the line Zemeckis terms the change as a “horrific decision” to which even the producer of the film Steven Spielberg and the studio agreed to.
The footage of Stoltz in the role has been online for quite some time now but they were never officially released as it could have embarrassed Stoltz as he was removed from the original cast. But now the makers of ‘Back to the Future’ are way past that concern since Stoltz has proved his mettle as an actor and a comedian, he even earned a Golden Globe nomination along with Fox in the year 1985. Now for the first time on the occasion of 25th anniversary of the film the unseen footage and behind the scenes story will be released on October 26, 2010.
