FIFA World Cup 2010 : BUZZING VUVUZELA

The yellow horn “Vuvuzela” of South Africa constantly humming at the background of every match played in FIFA WC 2010 has become synonymous with the event. The horn is played by football fans and audience at football matches in South Africa. Vuvuzelas have created controversies around them. Sound of the horn has been reported to be distracting for players, hinders communication among the players and also drowns the ambiance sound and thereby has been demanded to be banned in the ground. However, FIFA President has turned down the request as it is a part of music tradition of the South African nation. The President also argues that similar trumpets are blown in Mexican grounds as well during matches.
If the humming sound at the background of the television background seems to be irritating you or if you not able to hear the commentary, acoustic engineers have come to your rescue. Sound filters are available in the market to eliminate Vuvu’s noise in the broadcast. Some of the channels are contemplating on broadcasting Vuvu filtered signals. Vuvuzela is an integral part of South African football tradition and the fans around the world are embracing the Vuvuzela flavored football of South Africa (some might use Vuvu filters though).
