Tour de France stage 11: Mark Cavendish wins and leads in Overall Points Standing

After finishing first in the 192 Km stretch from Vatan to Saint-Fargeau, Mark Cavendish is leading in the Overall Points Standing. The total distance covered in Tour de France till now is 1763.5 km.

There have been five stages that have concluded with a bunch sprint in this year’s Tour and Mark Cavendish has won four of them, says letour.fr.

With this win, Mark Cavendish has equaled the record of eight career stage wins of Barry Hoban. He is a double Madison World Champion and Commonwealth Games gold medalist on the track. As a road cyclist, he has risen to prominence as a sprinter. He achieved eleven wins in his first professional season. In the 2008 Tour de France he won four stages, an unprecedented achievement for a British cyclist and he has since been described as the fastest sprinter in the world.
