PEOPLE magazine’s sexiest man alive, Johnny Depp, expresses interest in playing female Broadway entertainment legend Carol Channing terming it his “dream role”. He might not be voted the ‘sexiest woman alive’ next year yet his commitment to acting was commended by a rather surprised Channing who went so far as to say.
“I imagine, when or if Johnny should portray me, he will succeed. Because a true artist, such as himself, is one who loves his or her creation and therefore represents their honest view of that which they are creating. I think he is a gifted performer and I would be very proud, as well as interested in seeing what his vision of me would be.”
Depp is currently busy with his upcoming movie ‘the tourist’ co-starring sex siren Angelina Jolie. The movie is a remake of the French hit ‘Anthony Zimmer’ where he plays an American tourist who risks all to save his life after having been used as a dupe by an Interpol agent (Jolie) to flush out a notorious criminal. If and When Depp will play Channing in her biopic is still unclear but I guess a repeat of Mrs Doubtfire is not what fans have in mind.
