Hennessey Venom GT! Scary 1200hp and Elise-lightness!

Take a standard Lotus Elise, one of the best handling sportscars in the world, stretch it a little or rather a lot, shove in the rear a massive 6.2 litre LS9 V8 found on what Americans call the Blue Devil, the  Corvette ZR1, and add to this package all the necessary delicacies like propped up tranny, suspension, chassis, et al. And scary is just an understatement to what the end product might likely be. And Hennessey, a world favourite among bonkers tuners, have done just that and they call their new creation, the Venom GT.

Now, this is no exclusive flashing news as scoop pictures and figures have been floating around the web since the day the car hit the drawing board seriously. But what needs to be stood up and noticed is that the Venom GT has gone back to the dyno and this time some serious mind boggling numbers have been estimated. As earlier known, the Venom made around 633 horses at the rear wheels in the first dyno tests and recently, Hennessey released a video showing the Venom belting around 933 horses to the rear wheels on the dyno.

On the market side of things, Hennessey is offering three powertrim levels, of which one is a ‘mild’ naturally aspirated version with 725hp while the other two feature big bore twin-turbos and 1000 and 1200hp in that impressively incremental order. A Ricardo six speed tranny is being challenged to harness all those horses whilst extensive carbon fibre construction shall ensure a weight that shall tip the scales to the south of 2400pounds. Thus, one can expect this to be a light rocket given its power figures and so are expectations rife that this monster might hit 272mph tops whilst reaching 60mph in a mere 2.4 seconds. To make this car ultra exclusive Hennessey is likely to make only 10 of them every year thus pushing the price tags into satellite orbits with the milder version expected to be at $600,000 and those for the turbo variants in orbit along Jupiter and Mars!
