Kelly Ann Walz, a resident of Ross Township PA killed by her pet bear

A 32 year old woman from Ross Township of Pennsylvania was mauled to death by her pet black bear on Sunday evening. The unfortunate incident happened when the victim named Kelly Ann Walz entered the pet animal’s cage in order to clean it. At first she tried to distract the bear by throwing dog food to one side of the cage, but instead the 350 pound animal turned on her and attacked her.

Later the bear was shot and killed but there is no information about who shot the bear. Walz owned the bear since 2000 and kept the 9 year old pet in a 15 by 15 foot steel and concrete cage near her house. She also owned an African lion and Bengal tiger. She was given the license to keep these animals from the Pennsylvania Game Commission as per law.

But now questions are being are being raised about the commission’s decision to allow such personal ownership of dangerous wild animals, in spite of the fact that safety norms are often flouted by the owners and the given number of similar accidents which happens in zoo and animal welfare centers through out the year. The Pennsylvanian police have started an investigation to find out more about the incident.
